When did you start working for number8?
I joined number8 in November 2009.
What do you do at number8?
As the Consultant Operations Manager, my primary focus is ensuring a positive experience for our consultants while balancing exceptional service for our clients. In the event of a conflict between consultants and clients, I represent the consultants’ interests versus our account managers’ (who represent the Clients’ interests). Along with my colleague, Cindy Fallas, I lead the Team Managers and Team Leaders who provide guidance to our consultants.
Have you had other jobs within the industry?
My first job was as a Software Developer at Intel, and number8 is my second career move. I briefly owned a small business in networking and cabling solutions, offering valuable lessons on business dynamics.
What is your latest accomplishment or proudest moment at number8?
Taking a full month off was a significant achievement, dispelling the belief that too much of the business depended on me. My proudest moments revolve around maintaining an organizational culture that resonates with our team. When individuals appreciate our culture, turn down other offers for our unique environment, or return to us, it’s a testament to our collective work in preserving that culture—a “for developers by developers” ethos.
What is the most interesting project you’ve ever been involved with in your role?
Integration of our systems as we prepare for the future has been one of the most complex and most interesting projects we’ve implemented internally. It’s also a long-term effort, but the definition and automation of our processes to reduce cost and optimize our people talent, as I have done for many clients of ours, will always be key and will always be interesting to me.
What do you like most about your job?
The variety in my day-to-day tasks and the opportunity to leverage a full range of skills—soft, managerial, and software—make my role dynamic. Influencing the equilibrium between business and people gives me a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
What do you like most about number8?
Our people, and by extension, our culture. Despite our growth, we maintain the essence of a small company where I can connect with our team, understanding their challenges and celebrating their victories. Connecting with individuals from diverse countries is a unique aspect I cherish.
What 3 words would you use to describe what you do?
Balance. Quality. Culture.
What 3 words would you use to describe you?
Patient. Empathic. Problem-solver.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Spending quality time with my wife and dogs is my go-to for relaxation and decompression.
What is something about you that people (usually) do not know?
Despite my outward-facing role, I’m naturally shy. Over time, I’ve developed strategies to navigate situations that require interaction, even though I might naturally avoid them.
