What is your screening and recruitment process for candidates?

Our recruitment process starts with a short assessment which includes a collection of multiple choice questions that range from theoretical to programming logic questions. After that is completed, candidates must complete a live assessment where they are required to problem solve in front of some of our most senior engineers. We expect elite problem solving abilities, a robust architecture, highly maintainable code, a mastery of design patterns, consistent naming conventions, time management and professionalism. After both assessments are completed, candidates are required to complete a personality assessment, which helps us to ensure that our clients are recommended consultants who really fit their teams - technically, culturally, and personally. Finally, before our candidates ever speak to a client, they are assessed by number8 senior management to ensure that they have the communication skills necessary to be sucessful remotely. In addition to this process, we conduct background checks on all number8 consultants to ensure we are only working with people who share our values of professionalism and integrity.

What is the difference between staff augmentation and development outsourcing?

Staff augmentation and development outsourcing are both services number8 provides. Staff augmentation is our preferred model, and is normally the way we provide the absolute best service and value to our clients. In a staff augmentation model, we add number8 consultants to a clients' existing development teams. The more included in every aspect of a client's process our consultants can be, the more successful the engagement. Under a development outsourcing model, we develop a client's application in-house, with the role of Product Owner being fulfilled by the client. This model can be ideal for smaller companies or even for new projects at larger companies where an existing team is non-existent.
